I'll do that sometimes - the journey across SF bay makes using my road bike for commuting difficult, but I'll drive in and start riding ~6:15 to 6:30, get a an hour or two in, be showered and back in my office before a lot of my colleagues. There's something darned good about starting the day with a ride - endorphins, accept no substitute.
