Don't get to put off by the tone here. We have fun with each other and pithy comments are very common. A lot of us wouldn't consider a bike less than 3k. The bike I'm riding now was over 4K.... So appreciate that some may have a slightly different perspective.
I would recommend that you up your budget if you can. You can get a really nice bike if you can get closer to 1K.

Haha, sorry if that was a bit out of line. 1K on a bike seems like a ton of money to me, especially because I'm a noob and won't get THAT much use out of it. Winters are long here after all.
