Bikes: Several, mostly not name brands.

Since the mid-1970s in the USA, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (aka "CPSA") has required that seatposts be marked with a "Minimum Insertion" line below which it is not consider safe to use. In the UK you may not have such a requirement, but the pre-CPSA rule of thumb we used was that the post should extend below the seat clamp a distance at least twice the diameter of the post.
