Wow -- sorry to hear about this, but my experience in GA (early 90's) suggests to me that you're lucky it doesn't happen more often.

Around here (NE IN), the city buses give cyclists lotsa room -- SCHOOL buses are a HAZARD! Got passed by one, COMING UP TO A RED LIGHT, less than a foot away! Yup, driver got an earful.
