@nothingtoofancy: The highest end '09 CFR had a carbon steerer tube IIRC. Not so sure about the others. All '08s had alloy steerers. Also, even though there is no Scattante bashing in this thread, I do not recall triple bashing to be disallowed. BASH!
My 2009 CFR Team had a different fork than the Elite or Race models, but it still had a stupid heavy alu steerer. I bit the bullet and got a Ritchey WCS fork and saved about 200 grams.
