Last Call for the Dodge Tour de Georgia
I'm flying to Georgia tomorrow (stopping at a race in Anniston AL on Saturday), so this is my last opp to kick y'all in the arse and tell you this:
If you consider yourself a cycling fan and you live within a 10-hour drive of north Georgia, then you have no excuse not to make a pilgrammage to see at least ONE stage of the TdG. No excuses.
"I have a race that weekend" - great, hope you win $15.
"My family won't let me." - bring 'em!
"I have to work." - bring them too.
"It's too far to drive. There's no place to stay. I hate crowds." - man, I hate what cable TV has done to this country.
I know people who are driving down from Madison WI leaving at 5:01pm on Friday, and sleeping in their cars just to be a part of it.
Take your kids, load up the car, and make an adventure of it. I doubt you'll see this caliber of peleton in the USA any time soon...with the possible exception of Philly in June.
Or will you wait until YOUR state attempts a similar race and just hope that they come right past your driveway?
