First races ever. Lux et Velocitas, Collegiate D's, itt, circuit, and crit. Finished around 15 in the itt out of 50, 6 in the circuit, and middle in the crit. Basically, i was coming off of 7 weeks of injury, followed by 2-3 weeks of good training, and then 2 weeks of a cold. I went into the weekend thinking i was gonna get dropped like a hot potato.
The itt was fine other than a car that was on the road, had to really slow down on a turn in order to avoid it. The circuit was quite fun, other than the fact that crashes were just happening left & right. At one point, i was forced into a sign that was on the yellow lines, but i survived that one fine. I was surprised how easy it was to move up in the field, and will definitely use that to my advantage. The crit was just a disaster, and i witnessed the accordion effect first hand. Someone in the back of the field fell hard & was splayed on the left side of the course for 3-4 laps. Last lap, i was at the 10-15th wheel, going through the third to last turn, the two guys in front of me both slid out & crashed. I had to unclip, come to a full stop, and restart. Good thing no one behind ran me down, but i could never bridge the gap.
Earlier this season, my coach had some serious reservations regarding my bike handling abilities, but after this weekend, i'm amazed that there are tons of people worse than i am... pictures to come in the twitter feed as they are mostly things in nh
