The bars/stem are heavily oxidized, I might hit them with some Turtle Wax polish.

I wouldn't have had to think about it. I would be thrilled to find something like that at that price at our thrift store, unfortunately our local thrift store thinks everything they get is gold plated and I can't understand how they are able to stay in business.
I saw a couple of bikes there last week ( right after my wife asked if I wanted to stop there and I told her no they're too high priced ) one was a beat to crap Huffy mountain bike and the other a woman's Jamis Earth Cruiser that was cosmetically challenged and needed tires, seat and a total service. The price $40 each. I went in and talked to the manager and made an offer of $30 for the Jamis and without missing a beat he said no, I couldn't believe he said no but then again a thrift store that wants .75 for used Hotwheels/Matchbox cars when they are a dollar new, I should have expected it. The funny thing is my wife found something she wanted after looking around for a few min and I am sure if she spent more time looking would have found some more crap so they lost out on other sales over $10 off a already high priced bike.
