I have little trouble with kickstands dropping my bike; in fact, other than when the stand is on soft ground (which almost never happens), I don't think I've ever had my bike come off the stand.
In my experience, a bike falling over with a kickstand means that you either loaded it unevenly, you put the bike on slanted/soft ground, or your kickstand is too long or short for your combined wheel/tire diameter.
