Get the Park book and Berto's out of print book on modifying your bike- available through used dealers on Amazon & I think I paid 16 cents for it plus shipping. Those two are very good at telling you HOW things work so you can figure out how to repair stuff.

Much better than just learning how to remove and replace parts.
