Maybe it's an age thing. Old guys like pcad, 10Wheels, etc. are all mileage addicts. I'm 51 so I have no illusions about racing anyone, anytime, or even getting very fast. I'm just trying to stay as far away from the rest home for as long as possible. I'll casually mention to someone around my age that I "rode 125 miles over the weekend" and it's all oohs and ahhhs and "you some kinda stud, Daytrip!" And that works for me. As pcad says, "they're all junk miles."

On the other hand, my daughter did bring a HR monitor home from school for spring break, and I thought that was pretty interesting when she explained how to use it. Got me thinking. And I did kind of drop a hint around the dinner table that a Garmin 705 sure would be a fine birthday present. ("That's G-A-R-M-I-N"). So there's probably a training geek lurking around in my psyche somewhere. Among other things.

EDIT: I see arkansaskid basically beat me to it. Hey gramps--bed time!
