I know these painful 'lumps'. I get them too once in a while. My guess is I squeeze a bit harder than you, after the lump pops and the blood is out again, the pain is gone.
After I rebuilt my bike though, this hasn't occurred to me anymore, so my guess is it was a saddle setup issue.
