Single speed conversion for vertical dropouts

My friend the n00b just overpaid for a schwinn 434 for a SS conversion, he didn't realize that the bike had vertical drop outs.

I like the looks of this, anybody have a set up like this? It seems to be a good choice over a spring loaded tensioner.
