Everyone, thanks for your very helpful advice. I have stopped all running until the race date. I still bike, but not as often as I used to.
I have tried several stretch and massage techniques that I learned on the youtube videos and other resource websites. However, the pain continues to develop around mile 6. Funny coincidence, since yours flared up at mi. 5.
Those foam rollers seem illusive to find, but I am sure I can locate them locally. Definitely a good thing to have around.
I will dedicate myself to finding that compression band for the IT area. Hopefully I can locate it before this Sunday. If not, I will just stfu and htfu.
