The 500, 305, and 705 all use barometric. Barometric is better at tracking changes. GPS elevation needs to settle for a while to get a good fix. The units calibrate from GPS periodically. Barometrics do suffer from drift, especially if there are big weather changes, but still will give better overall results than pure GPS.
