9 speed, STI. Tensions on to climb bigger gears just fine, the STI releases the cable tension OK but the derailler won't jump down. I grabbed it and muscled it outboard, clocked it in-bound but that darn thing is sticks frozen in whatever position it's in on the release. What's the likely cause? Did I lose a spring?
Did you remove the cable
at the derailleur when you were checking it for "stickiness"? If you did, then it's probably toast. If not, recheck for cable movement in the entire cable run.
