Hey folks:
I just thought I would mention that I have just completed Eu De Hell Week presented by the B.C Randonnuers and Ken Bonner. The concept is a compact brevet series all done in one week(200km,300km, 400km and 600km brevet)
This was also my first full series and first 600km brevet ever. The expeirence was totally amazing and pretty tough but well worth it. I would not recomend everyone try there first series this way, but I pushed through and now have some incredible stories to tell.
On the 600km brevet at km250 on a monster climb out Cambell River heading to Gold River my left crank arm snapped completly off. Then the spacer that holds the crank and B.B vanished or shattered. The two guys I was riding with managed to bodge togther my bike and use a zip tie to keep the bottom bracket from floating sideways. We then had to do a derailer adjustment but even then I still finished the ride.
I also rode my first 600km ride straight through with no sleep stops what so ever.
My overall elapsed time was around 68 hours plus change and had me in 3rd place overall of 17 people who completed the series. I can now say the I am finally a super randonneur.
This year also saw the first women to complete Eu De Hell Week as well as the largest feild of riders ever. Congrats to all other finishers!
