Found a better source. Chicago ranks #17 nationally with 7,812 riders ( 0.7% of the workers ) according to the 2005 Community survey; 5.5% walk. There are a few reason to believe that these numbers under-represent bikers and it's only counting biking to work.

I find it interesting that not a one city with population over 380k had a better than 1% commuting rate. Bicycling is also almost twice as popular for commuting than motorcycle, but walking is over 6 times as popular as biking! 78% of bike commuters are men.
