I've been building wheels for 30 years. Since I learned to properly true and tension my own wheels, I have not broken a
single spoke except those that were damaged by the chain. I'm 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, so I'm not easy on wheels.
Aerospoke wheels are virtually bombproof, but are heavier and more expensive than an equivalent spoked wheel.
