Silicone, the "heroin of finishes" that's the main reason I'd avoid it.
here's a quote you can take with a grain of salt and decide for yourself:
"NuFinish is one of those waxes where they say that you can wax it once a year. That is because it is silicone based. The problem, not only that it does NOT last a year, is that whatever longevity it has comes from the fact that silicone seeps into your car's paint. It goes into any chip or scratch or microfine abrasion, and then it actually starts to lift the paint off your car. Prolonged use of it will eventually make your car's paint chip off much easier. PLUS, if you ever repaint your car, you can't just put a layer on top, you have to strip the paint off entirely, down to full metal. Ask any Maaco or body shop, they will tell you that they refuse to add paint layers and will only do a full strip/primer/paint job."
However, it might be just the ticket for a final treatment on raw aluminum, where painting is not a consideration...don't know, haven't tried it on AL.
