I hate to keep bringing it up, but people do vote to increase taxes for public transit. In my city it was 2 to 1 in favor of the millage increase for CATA. But I think people have to be convinced that the bus company is responsibly managed before they will vote for it. Also, I have a hunch that people would be less likely to support bus service if the fares were free.
