How about a vest that is ventillated in the back? PI Zephyr vest works well for me. Under it I either use a traditional synthetic long sleeved jersey or a wool long sleeved jersey. If it is under 55 I will probably add a tight fitting base layer, the cheap stuff from Target seems about right for those temps. Not completely ventillated in the rear, I would say about two thirds ventillated. It rolls up into a small package for those days that start cool but end warmer.
