Around the Canberra region wearing mis-matched kits is a current fashion trend. Its a way of wearing pro team kits without wearing pro team kits if you know what I mean. This way you can still look down at riders who wear matched team kits and say that they shouldn't be wearing a pro team kit if your not on the team while still giving in to your personal desire to wear a team kit that your not on anyway.

Go for it. You may start this fashion trend in your neck of the woods.

EDIT: I should add that I have quite a collection of basic black bibnicks and nicks so I often wear any old jersey with any old pair of black nicks. If I'm wearing a team bibnick I will match it with its corresponding top.
