I've wanted a De Rosa for many years (who hasn't?). I was trawling the internet looking for a bike for my girlfriend and found this. Purchased from a kid in Jersey who inherited it from his great-uncle, who, apparently, used to race it. The kid didn't really know what he had gotten his hands on.

When the great-uncle got old, he put a Campy triple on the front - he had to swap the bottom bracket - and a Suntour Cyclone long-cage RD to accommodate the chain wrap.

I swapped the wheels, saddle, double crank, Super Record FD and 1978 NR RD from my Carlton, and installed a new bottom bracket; gave her some fresh bar tape (almost destroying the ancient Modolo gum hoods in the process), and rode. A sublime long-distance rider, as you might expect; the most comfortable, solid-feeling bike I've ever ridden.

Frame and fork from the late 70's?

And, yes, I've never seen a bike this color - a deep gray-green flecked with gold. Gorgeous.
