nice remark to the cop. did you have a chip on your shoulder? or a death wish? sounds like he had a sense of humor on the PA.

when I've come across these situations I go left and take the lane and I don't squeeze between the traffic and the cop. it's one or the other - I might wait for traffic to let up so I can take the lane. taking the lane makes the issues apparent enough to the cop that a verbal exchange isn't required. up here that seems to working OK
