Try to not concern yourself with Men's vs Women's labeling.

Women's bikes aren't always significantly different. Some do have slightly different geometries, a different seat, and SOMETIMES shorter reach components (shifters, cranks).

For a rock-bottom department store bike, the only differences you will probably see are Paint Color and Top Tube.

Please avoid the old-fashioned, low swoop, ridiculous looking, and absolutely-no-benefit-to-a-woman steeply angled top tube! This design is a throwback to riding bikes in dresses.

Also please avoid the department store if at all possible. The money you 'save' upfront on a junk bike will quickly go to the LBS in what they charge you to keep adjusting or fixing said bike to keep it ridable.
