Nice bike. Leave it at home.

I went to UF, where bikes are better than cars. Bikes were not allowed inside the dorms, no matter how nice. All bikes had to be parked outside.

What you really want is a beater bike for college. Leave the nice ride at home for the dorm year, and then when you get off campus housing, keep the good bike indoors and ride it on the weekends. The commuter bike can live anywhere.

You have a really nice bike. Enjoy it, but before taking it with you think about the conditions it will be exposed to.

EDIT - at the University of Florida there were a good 30,000 freshmen. I forgot the actual numbers but it was a lot. Dorms were packed. Rooms meant for double occupancy were made into triples, and single rooms were rare. As such, all bikes were banned from inside the building. There was simply no room. Even the outside racks were always packed. Before you do anything, get the bike policy IN WRITING from the campus housing authority.
