First bike commute in probably 3 years today.
- Couldn't find the back for the folding bike
- Rode the folding bike to the train station, ~1.6 mi.
- Got on the train, got flak from the conductor for not having a bag
- Got off, rode the ~0.6 mi. to work
- I haven't ridden in so long, my quads are a little sore from even this short ride.
- It feels better on my bum leg to ride a bike than to walk. (I broke the hell out of it in a motorcycle crash in Nov.)
I feel good though, more energy than normal, and I'm actually looking forward to the commute home.
The new bike (Fisher Simple City 3) should be arriving tomorrow or Wednesday, so I have to decide if I should spend the extra $50 or so and get a bag for the folder or forget riding then ~0.6 mi. on the work end of the commute and just take the new bike to the train station at the home end. I'm kind of leaning towards that, as the roads are super-rough here, and my behind is taking a beating with the little 16" wheels on the folder.
I look forward to losing all the weight (~ 15 lbs.) I gained when I stopped cycling part of the commute. I think it will make up for the part of my soul that is missing since I stopped motorcycling.
Cars scare me a lot more now that I can't keep up with them though.
