Try disconnecting the head from the holder, wipe all the contacts with a pencil eraser, and it will probably be good to go...... Then, slide it back in and try it out.
I had to do this with mine a lot. I bought an electrical contact cleaner from a camera store because I like tools. Pencil eraser works fine though.
