I don't like feeling responsible for them when I want to just do my own thing, and I've had idiots run into me when I slowed for stop signs/lights.
if you latch on without saying anything, I feel no responsibility to point out obstacles. And thats true, running into you when you slow down could be a problem, but generally if someone is going to fall, it'll be them.
