I ride a fixie with a front brake. I live downtown in Toronto and ride with a steep gear (52x16) and often have found myself ripping down some pretty steep grades. Even downtown I feel more comfortable with the front brake as a back up, just in case (especially in the winter).

So I was thinking that for my new project bike that I am building up, why not put a cyclocross fork on it, and if I am going to run a front brake anyways, why not a disc?

Any of you thought about this before, or better yet, tried it? Or am I alone in my insanity?
