You can buy a headset that performs and lasts the same for a lot less. Read the king site if you want to know why they are so expensive. They try to do as much in house as possible with as little impact on the environment as possible. By outsourcing and caring less about the environment and working conditions others can make a comparable product a lot cheaper.
Just depends what you care about really. If you agree with the king philosophy buy one, if not spend the cash you save on something else.
A lot of people can go down in quality and save even more money. I'm perfectly happy with a $20 loose bearing headset. Unless money is no object It makes more sense to save the cash on the headset and spend it where you will notice the difference.
