Bravo!

I have some old spandex shorts, but I don't wear them anymore. I'm too lazy to wash them after every time I get on my bike, which is almost everyday. A Brooks, some form fitting boxer briefs and climbing shorts/shants make a pretty comfortable combo that's good for 50+ mile rides. Climbing shorts stretch good, are close fitting to the thigh, have low waists and high backs and don't bind or restrict movement.

Beyond 60+ mile rides, I'd start thinking about bike shorts and butt butt'r.
