Climbing shorts stretch good, are close fitting to the thigh, have low waists and high backs and don't bind or restrict movement.

Beyond 60+ mile rides, I'd start thinking about bike shorts and butt butt'r.
That sounds pretty much like my style. I've found the combination of boxer briefs, comfortable shorts/knickers/pants, and my B17 to be about as good as it gets. You really don't need special clothes to ride a bike, although sometimes they do make things more comfortable. My wife bought me a pair of thermal lycra tights for Christmas and I have to admit they are very nice when the temps get down around freezing. When I first put them on I did look a lot like Mr. Incredible trying to fit into his old superhero costume but oh well.
