I'm not sure where this is coming from but it makes no sense to me. Spokes not being parallel at the valve have nothing to do with how the hub is laced which is what you implying by your 'centerline of the rim' comment. Rims cracking at the eyelets has nothing to do with the lacing pattern either. I've seen plenty of rims with cracked eyelets and none had anything to do with lacing.
