I do know what you mean though when you say if you started posting here that your
bike choice would probably have been different. Sometimes I think that we (Bike Forums) should
point all newbie 'what bike should I get' questions here. We don't have to espouse the latest and
greatest in frame material or components and could probably save these guys a few hundred bucks
at least.

I spend a lot of time in other forums telling "what bike should I get" people to ask in this forum. Especially the commuter forum—I am completely astounded at how many people go in there and say "Ok, so I have $1100 to get a bike but I'm not sure it's enough money to get a good enough bike to ride three miles to work!"
