Sometimes you have to get a little more aggressive, like paint rubbing compound, before you get to the finer grits like polishes and then waxes. But be careful. One system that I've never overcut the paint with - but watch the decals - is meguiars 3 part system. Paint cleaner, polish, then wax, available at the xmart. In a 'fancier' auto store, it'll come in 5 stages.
