On the Road Forum, I am the King of the Freds and Killer of Posers. The Road Forum is about Jock Posturing and athletic competition. I've been there for 35 years going strong. Last year I rode 8,000 miles on modernish bikes, C&V, and single speed. Know the Road Forum for what it is, including a good dose of locker room talk. At the same time, if you are a rider, as opposed to a C&V poser, the Road Forum provides a good deal of info, along with the BS.
Good observation. As I said, I wasn't trying to disparage the Road Forum....I've learned a heck of a lot there about
riding.
I thought about this last night and I think one of the subliminal reasons that the C&V side of things has appealed to me so much is the tinkering, cleaning, polishing, and just touchy-feely hands-on part of it. That satisfies a part of me that the modern bike just doesn't. Not that you can't tinker with a modern bike but it's just not quite the same. Does that make sense?
