Absolutely. There is something extremely satisfying for me in overhauling old parts that I just don't get with the newer stuff. If I take an old bike that is barely functional and strip it down, clean and lube all the parts, tinker with components and get it back on the road it's that much more satisfying then say doing maintenance on a new bike.
That's also part of why I like building my own wheels, there's a pleasure in the entire process and the sense of accomplishment, but then again I like the whole ritual of gluing tubulars.
