Ward twin-rear baskets.... Whats your arrangement??
EDIT: I meant Wald.... not Ward. My apologies!
I've been asking around the Touring forum regarding panniers, racks, fenders, etc. We became a car-lite family last fall and I finally got serious about commuting by bike. I ride to work and various errands that do not require the use of our car. Many of my non-work commuting involves bringing groceries home.
I also have an interest in doing some over-night camping trips with my bike. I have done some backpacking before and I have mostly utra-light gear for camping.
The above being said, I've been looking into these Wald twin baskets for the rear of my bike. I have a Jamis Allegro as my commuter, flat bar with 700x32 wheels. I thought of adding these baskets for my general commuting and maybe adding a front rack with bag. If I've thought this all through, I could strap my backpack, tent and sleeping bag to my rear baskets or center rack. Most of my BP'ing gear is stowed in my pack anyway, so I am just spreading the weight around the baskets.
Is my thinking sane here?? Commuting is my first priority but I'd like to kill two birds by incorporating my hobby, too.
I'd like to hear from others who use these baskets for commuting. Thanks!!
