What about that picture of the freehub body he posted - thing looks fried, doesn't it?
It has minor fretting marks from the loose cogs rubbing, but nothing too severe. Once he gets the lockring tightened down properly, they'll be sufficient friction to hold the entire stack together and the load will be spread out amongst all the cogs and all the splines. It'll be fine.
