People have long thought that the slower the better and many asked MAHA and other manufacturers why they don't charge really slow. So MAHA and others tested it an depth and found out that too slow charging makes the end of charge harder to detect. Sp now wed know those chargers that charge at 200mAh or default to 200mAh are not as good becaue they also miss the charge terminiation.
Right, I'll go along with your line of reasoning simply because its quicker and "seems" to have no negative effects.

Whether or not "stalled out" cells actually exit as a result of slow charging, or whether some other factor effecting current flow (or current flow reading) is about as geeky as it can get.

I once had a job in medical instrument manufacturing facility - and if there is one thing I took away for that experience is that dealing with detailed measures of mass produced products is next to impossible.

I operated digital volt meters that detected current changes in fractions of a single mA. Good luck with getting all the production to repeat those standards.......
