People who drive only cars(or trucks, whatever) don't like anything that isn't like them. It doesn't matter that you are on a bicycle, or a motorcycle. They don't like it, because it isn't a car. There really isn't anything you can do to change this in a timely manner. Being nice, and obeying every law known to man, isn't going to make a *cycle ok in their eyes. You aren't in a car, therefore you don't deserve to use the road.

Running a stop sign, running a red light, speeding, impeding traffic(not talking bicycles here), improper lane change, failing to signal a turn/lane change... they are all illegal. There isn't a different level of illegal for speeding vs running a red light, unless the law specifically calls out a degree(felony vs misdemeanor).

So I have to ask anyone that opposes running a red light: Do you speed? Do you think it is ok to speed, even 2 mph over the limit? Chances are you do, so you can holler till you are blue in the face, you are still wrong.

Bicycles have a hard time speeding, so the illegal activities they partake in are usually running stop signs/red lights, because they can. No different, if done "safely" than a car speeding 5mph over the limit, or anything else most people break the law in doing while driving.
