'84 Miyata 310 or '85 Fuji Espree for commuting, day-tripping

Hi. I'm looking at these two bicycles -- '84 Miyata 310 or '85 Fuji Espree. Both appear to be original and in good shape. The Miyata is advertised as a 23", the Fuji as a 21" so I don't know if they will present fit challenges that can't be overcome with stem swaps, etc. (I ride 56ish road bike.)

Assuming they both fit (I know, I know, but play along...), is there anything to recommend one over the other? Neither has a pump peg or rack eyelets on the seat stay. The Miyata has single-mounted shifters on the DT, as opposed to the more typical one per-side on the Fuji. Cosmetically, both appear similar, at least from the pics I've seen. 27" wheels on both. The Fuji is listed at $55 more than the Miyata.

I'd like to add a rack, possibly fenders, and use the bike for commuting (~25 miles each way) and day-tripping with the family (hence the desire for a rack and bags).

Any thoughts on whether one represents a clearly better choice than the other?

Miyata '84 catalog is here:

I would swear I found the Fuji '85 catalog somewhere on teh internets, but I didn't bookmark it and can't find it now.

Any opinions/observations welcome.

Thanks!
David
