Bring the bike to LBS and have them go over it very carefully, looking for damage.
I'm not sure how you could bend just a rim, front impact? if so look for signs of frame
damage on downtube and seatube behind the headtube.
While I don't advocate fraud I do think you need to know exactly what is wrong before you
settle with his insurance company (if he even has insurance).
