Why do my cycling computers always die before a major ride?
Every time I have an important race or ride I have a mishap with a computer. This year I was anxious (due to finally being healthy after 2 years of PT from a hip injury) to see my sustained power output on some climbs in the 3 state 3 mountain ride and sure enough my Powertap comp dies at mile 56 and my mile garmin dies at mile 80 (right before the most important climb).
My garmin has died 3 of the 4 years I've done 3 state. Now it is reading altitudes in the 60,000 ft range consistantly!
Anyone else have tales of computers not cooperating at the most inopportune times?
