Granny Cog for climbing and technical sections where you have to attack uphills and get around a switchback. Middle cog for whoopteedoos and building some fast MO. Big Cog for zipping off the dirt and finding a Starbucks for a Vente Bold and a slice of Lemon Bread.
On climbs I try to down shift while I can get a slight pause and not under full cranking pressure. When I really huffin and puffin I don't want to think about a shift, just balance, line and movin my rear.
