I'm not a commuter...but I eat 1/2 cup (or slightly more) light nonfat vanilla yogurt with 1/4 cup granola. That holds me till lunch, and will hold me for a 10+ mile bike ride, as well. If I was a commuter and worked days (I work second, no way am I commuting at midnight. No thanks) I would have a banana and a fresh mandarin orange for snack...in fact that IS my snack at work (5pm snack, 7pm dinner).
I haven't eaten a full breakfast in some time, My stomach doesn't really like a lot of food in the morning anyway.
I mix it up with a Protein shake only every so often, but that generally requires a banana or a bowl of salad later on.
