I always ask questions, especially when I pay the shop to service my bike when I don't have a torque wrench or a headset press. Bike shops should not be the keepers of secret information.

Great comments, as far as asking questions and gathering info, the internet has so much on fixing every piece of your bike. I went from knowing how to ride a bike to building my current bike, and rebuilding a couple of others,in this last year that i started riding.

Choice is great, and so is free will. I shop at bicycle warehouse(one word tom,if i dont know he's glad to show me,he often refers me to PCC for that one part i want, and they dont carry)performance(points+sales on accelerade and other odds and ends),trek(like to see what i cant afford from time to time, never know i did snag my saddle from there half off),pacific coast cycle( chuck has so much stuff cramed into the shop,he's got it,and doesnt even know it.Serfas seca's w/white strips got to get a new pair soon)

but all my big pieces have come from online, frame fork, wheelset.
