Yeah, but before arriving the shop said person was not planning to buy them there because the goal was to check on sizes since shopping online doesn't offer this kind of service.

I would not go to a shop to check out sizes or even test ride if I have no realistic expectation that I plan to spend that money at the shop.

For example, before I got the Merlin I really dreamed about a Seven; and I had been scouting eBay/CL to source a used one. I go to the LBS and I stare at the demo Sevens that they have there but I just couldn't bring myself to ask for a test ride despite not knowing how a Ti bike rides . Ultimately, I decided that I was going to get a BD Ti Bike or Harbanero because they will let me return them if I don't like them. Sure it would mean a lot more hassle to me but I wouldn't be wasting the LBS' time.

That might not sound too wise with my money and time management.... but oh well. I have become the type that I wouldn't even go to a camera shop to ask the salesperson behind the counter to show me a nice camera/lens etc, unless they are in places like Best Buy. I would rather buy from Amazon and return if I don't like the merchandise.
